Introduction
In year 2000, the Faculty of Economics, Kyushu University established the Research Project Group for Policy Evaluation. Since then, the group have been active in this research field. The present book is the third one, in English, which intends to introduce the fruits of our research activities to overseas scholars and institutions.
In Japan, we have noticed for a long time that both globalization and localization are characteristic of the contemporary world. However, both problems are still untouched in many respects and become increasingly more complicated, and many issued are waiting for our various new approaches. The issues that this book treats are widely diverse ranging from U.S., France, Belgium, and U.K. to Japan, from theoretical to empirical studies, from economic policies to policy evaluation, and so on. However, each of these issues is handled in light of either globalization or localization.
