内容紹介

1960年代から80年代を通して、日本的経営は健全な産業関係の構築、忠実で献身的な労働力、完璧で高品質の製品の生産、高い収益性などの奇蹟を成し遂げたと高い評価を得ていた。

日本的経営システムは人的資源管理(human resource management: HRM)面においては、終身・長期雇用、年功序列賃金・昇進制度、入社後の継続的な訓練・教育制度、企業別組合、ボトムアップ的意思決定システムなどで、また生産管理面においては、下請け・系列構造、製品や工程の継続的改善、小ロット生産、ジャスト・イン・タイム方式、組織内のトップからボトムまで全員が参加する現場レベルの品質管理(QC)運動などで特徴づけられるのが伝統であった。

本書では、終身・長期雇用、年功序列制度、入社後の継続的な訓練・教育制度、企業別組合、最新の技術に基づいた生産、R&Dへの投資、現場におけるQCサークル運動など、日本的経営を際立たせるいくつかの基本的な特徴を分析するものである。また公務員の天下り、雇用市場におけるフリーターやパートタイマーの存在の増大、HRMに課題を突き付ける存在となっている国内労働力人口に占めるニート層の出現など現代的課題も取り扱う。さらに、不祥事や不正が相次いだことから議論の的となっている日本企業のコーポレート・ガバナンス体制についての問題も検証する。本書は海外の研究者にとっても日本的経営の沿革と特徴そして課題を理解するうえで貴重な文献となるであろう。

コンダカル・ミザヌル・ラハマン(Khondaker Mizanur Rahman)
1959年、インド生まれ。
1980年、ダッカ大学商学部卒業。
1982年、同大学大学院商学研究科修士課程修了。
1984年、大阪外国語大学留学生別科日本語研修修了。
1987年、一橋大学学生科日本語研修中級修了。
1990年、中央大学大学院商学研究科博士課程修了(商学博士号取得)。
2009年、オーストラリア公認管理会計士資格取得。
2010年、同国公認会計士資格取得。
ダッカ大学商学部会計学科専任講師(1983年~1990年)。
日本福祉大学経済学部助教授を経て教授(1994年~2003年)。
米国ハーバード大学客員研究員(1998年~1999年)。
南山大学総合政策学部・ビジネス研究科教授を経て同大学経営学部教授(2003年~現在)。
セントラルクインズランド大学客員教授(2009年~2011年)。
